Description : Maxima Computer Algebra System built with various Lisp
dialects

Maxima is a cross-platform software package for conducting computer algebra
calculations in mathematics and the physical sciences. It provides its own
programming language to write programs even so it is written in Common Lisp.

Maxima can be compiled with various implementations of Common Lisp,
each with its weaknesses and strengths regarding speed, memory usage,
error handling, support for foreign functions interface (FFI) and
command line editing. This package brings Maxima compiled with
Common Lisp implementations supported by Debian (and Maxima).

Actually Maxima is already brought to Debian through the package Maxima,
but this package built Maxima exclusively with the GNU Common Lisp compiler,
and the maintainer shows no willingness to build with other Common Lisp
compilers.
This situation leads to some discontent among Maxima developers and users, hence
the needs of a poly-lisp package.

I am planning to create and maintain this package as sole maintainer/uploader as
the process might be complex and time-consuming. Once the packaging is stable
enough,
I will consider to bring it to the Debian Math Team. Meanwhile, I will deposit
and
keep up-to-date the package material at Salsa.

Thanks,
Jerome
