Simple matter of safety - since memtest86+ is, technically speaking, a fork, and a quite recent one, it may still happen that the original development resumes - although it's been a _long_ time and a fair number of mails I sent upstream without a sign that there's someone reading Chris Brady's mail. If memtest86+ proves to be stable enough, and gets maintained, in the future, then we'll see. BTW, for now, memtest86+ does not build out of the box on sid, I'll have to investigate.
