Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Unfortunately I no longer have the time it would take to maintain this
package properly. LPP was originally written for Linux 2.2 and hacked
up ever since as upstream stopped supporting it very soon. So by now
there are some serious issues in the code that are not easily
fixed. (kernel panics, problems when used with other kernel patches
like the preemptive patch, oopsing on SMP machines)

I have a couple of patches from other people and plenty of experiences
from the hours I spent debugging the boot process with this patch so
I'll do my best to support anyone who wants to take the package over.

Maybe the time would be better spent to support the bootsplash ITPs
#190560 or #188439 though as that would be a nicer replacement for
LPP. So if there's no one willing to take the package over within a
reasonable time I'll file a bug to have it (and its RC bug) removed
from the archive.

Gordon
