This is used to control an X workstation using a speech recognition program such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking running on a Windows machine. (You ssh or telnet from the Windows box to the Linux box, run a2x, and then dictate into the telnet client). The program is very simple and not currently under active development upstream, so maintaining the package would not be a very demanding task. (I do have a patch to fix a bug in it which I'll give to anybody who's interested in packaging this, though.) Current "upstream site" is: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/a2x-voice/a2x.tar.Z linked to from the FAQ at: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/a2x-voice/a2x-faq.html Building is pretty easy: change Imakefile to read "#define OldDragonDictate NO" rather than YES xmkmf make (ignore all the compiler warnings :->) make install Licensing is: ===begin=== Copyright 1992 by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Permission to use, copy, modify, distribute, and sell this software and its documentation for any purpose is hereby granted without fee, provided that the above copyright notice appear in all copies and that both that copyright notice and this permission notice appear in supporting documentation, and that the name of M.I.T. not be used in advertising or publicity pertaining to distribution of the software without specific, written prior permission.
