So you rebuilt a complete upstream tarball, it seems the sane way to go to my mind. I would be glad to check your work and even contribute. What are the URLs of the SVN repository and of the mailing-list? BTW, that software is great; it seems it even supports exporting to Cadstar format, but not Protel as far as I sought.
