Hmm, I'm unsure if binary software will be let in contrib. See the dpkg-distaddfile call in its rules file. Yes, it's a nuisance to you/ftp-masters, since they have to manually install the byhand component. And for some reason, though it seems easy to automate on a case-by-case basis to me, that's just never happened. -- see shy jo
