As described above there were (and still are) some problems with the autotools part of valkyrie. I contacted upstream about it but so far there has been no result. As I'm not really interested in this package anymore and do not plan to use it, I'll mark the bug RFP. Anyone who is interested in packaging valkyrie should probably contact upstream again before.
