Version 2.0.0 is the first real release of the new 'version 2'. It is not fully compatible with rpy (v1), but it has a compatibility mode. Given this, we intent to keep both around for the time being. I have a basic package ready. Documentation requires python-sphinc 0.4.3 which will hit unstable within a day (thanks, Piotr and Mikhail!) and I'll probably upload to unstable once I can add the rst-based docs.
