The package seemed simple but actually there are two issues: 1) the package is using scons without any install target, that means that it should be patched so an install target will be added; this is trivial
2) the shared library which is built from the package (libv8.so) is not shipping *any* soname, and scons does not support sonames natively; upstream knows about this, see: http://code.google.com/p/v8/issues/detail?id=151 The Debian Library Packaging Guide advices to inform upstream about the soname missing and let him add the soname, rather than introducing a binary compatibility only for debian. I'm poking upstream, if he does not reply probably it's better not to package libv8, waiting for the soname; anyway if someone else has any other idea please feel free to change the ownership of this ITP.
