 The High Performance Computing Centre (HPCC) at Federal Institute of
Science and Technology (FISAT), Angamaly, Kerala, India was set up in the
year 2007. The centre is primariy a research centre under the Department of
Computer Science at FISAT. HPCC focusses on research and consultancy work in
Cluster computing using free and open source technology. The HPCC has
Dhakshina-II a 40 noded cluster running on Debian Lenny. There are two IBM X
series servers and 40 execution nodes, all having Debian as the base
operating system. The major softwares are OpenMPI, OpenLDAP, OCTAVE Parallel
and Ganglia.

Debian was chosen for its 'free' nature and stability.
