HI,
Just ran a check in the last 30 minutes and it's still the same.
Guess the subject bar says it all. I have been chatting with comcast.net CSRs
on and
off for nearly 2 weeks now...
It's like this... I couldn't access any debian.org related sites. Some noaa.gov
didn't work also.
I was updating Squeeze one morning and couldn't get to the update sites.
Checked Lenny updates and it did the same thing.
I thought at first that it was just a glitch. But it wasn't. I could access
commercial sites.
The only ones I'm not getting are some .org and .gov sites.
I can punch 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS) into my router and get these sites
with no problem.
And, we have an XP machine here with a separate IP address that does the same
thing.
(It's outside the router connected directly to the cable modem through a hub.
I've checked with Iceweasel, Opera, Firefox (on knoppix and slax livecds and Xp
on separate IP),
and Konqueror on Squeeze and Lenny. Tried Lenny, XP, Win2kPro, Win98, Knoppix,
Slax Os's.
Didn't try IE since I don't use it ANYWHERE.
Antivirus, Firewalls etc are not a factor.
The last CSR I chatted with suggested I contact debian.org et al. I told him
that if I posted
on the debian forums there would be a shitstorm of debian conspiracy theories!
(Maybe well deserved)
So what do you folks think? Is comcast blocking debian.org et al or are they
just
really lousy at maintaining their DNS?
Maybe you folks should have a word or two with them...
Sincerely Zephyr
