we would need a bit more info about your issue. Getting kernel and X
logs would be needed. They can probably be obtained through the files
under /var/log by logging in into single-user mode, so that X doesn't
start and fiddle with your screen.

That should make your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file available, please attach
it as well. You could try and specify Driver "vesa" if that's not the
case already. It might be less troublesome.
