branden, hi, i am not sure if this is to do with xserver itself but
i just downloaded morphix onto a CD in the hope that the same issues
i am having would be fixed, there, and they are not.
the issue is that auto-detection of the mouse is erroneous (and i will
alert the kernel people too).
i have a serial mouse plugged into /dev/ttyS0 on a machine that has a
ps/2 socket.
on bootup, the serial mouse is not found.
whose bug is this one? :)

I can't support this version anymore. It is grossly out of date and
part of no released version of Debian.

Probably a bug in whatever is auto-detecting the mouse. The X server
doesn't perform autodetection of mouse devices, just of mouse protocols.
I don't know much about morphix, so I don't know what to tell you. If
it were a stock Debian box, I'd see what "mdetect" had to say.
