yes (fixed by removing all of the customizations - such as the history for the "run" command, which is how I'm invoking xterm since gnome and kde insist on sweeping xterm out of sight). For the startx approach, I've a script run from .xinitrc which copies things back/forth, but haven't seen how to do the equivalent in gdm, etc. I haven't finished investigating the handful of reports about reverse video - they all seem to be the same, something that isn't obvious (observer bias) about how the resource files are setup. I do see that running xrdb with the "same" resource file as in app-defaults seems to lock down the patterns more than if xrdb isn't used. But I have more investigating (learning) to do. -- Thomas E.
