Hello all: I'm very sorry for leaving so unattended this bug(it's not the only one). I suppose I should get the use to subscribe my bugs. Maybe I should suggest bug reporters are automatically subscribed to them, but this is another topic.
As what regards the bugs I totally agree: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=272060;msg=22 Almost two years ago my knowledge about this topics was even less than now. Indeed I think this has been a combination of i810 xorg driver xv extension bug+kernel i915 bug/misoperation. The xv bug appear yet after a S3(Suspend to Ram) and wake up. In this situation there was a bug in the xv (xorg upstream bug #5774). Now I use sid, the xorg problem is gone, I can't tell about sarge. I would consider #306277, #310629 and #272060 the same, since they all affect video playing, possibly using xv and i830 lockup. I lately found that even when I reproduced the Xorg lock, even stopping X and restarting didn't work _unless_ I unload the i915 module. Then I could start X again and everything would work as usual. This is why I'm not sure still if a possible bug in this kernel module still could exist/remain. IMHO I would close these bugs. I wouldn't like to forget thanking you for doing the great yet hard work to review old bugs. -- Raúl Sánchez Siles ----->Proud Debian user<----- Linux registered user #416098
