Hi,

About a year ago, you reported a bug to the Debian BTS regarding your
ATI Radeon X700 Pro board not being recognized by the ATI driver. Did
you reproduce this problem recently? With Xorg/Etch? Could you try with
xserver-xorg-video-ati 6.6.192 currently in experimental? Does it help
if you use "radeon" instead of "ati" in xorg.conf?

Thanks,
Brice

Hi Brice,
Thanks for your mail.

Results:

old system:  xserver-xorg-video-ati_6.6.3
            xserver-org-core_1.1.1-17

   device block in xorg.conf, driver line:
   "ati" makes X not start as before
   "vesa" used until now
   "radeon" works, now both primary and secondary head are detected.
video input is not detected Strange loading sequence: radeon ati radeon:

-------------------------------------------------------------
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so
(II) Module radeon: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
   compiled for 7.1.1, module version = 4.2.0
   Module class: X.Org Video Driver
   ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.0
(II) LoadModule: "ati"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ati_drv.so
(II) Module ati: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
   compiled for 7.1.1, module version = 6.6.3
   Module class: X.Org Video Driver
   ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 1.0

(II) Loading sub module "radeon"
(II) LoadModule: "radeon"
(II) Reloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so
-------------------------------------------------------------

Updated system:
   libc6 -> 2.5-11
   xseerver-xorg-core  1.1.1-17  ->  1.3.0.0-dsfg-6
   xserver-xorg-video-ati 6.6.3  ->  6.6.192

Now the entry "ati" in xorg.conf works fine,
the radeon is recognised and the submodule radeon is loaded automatically.
The video input is not recognised.

Best regards
Erhard
