How do you start you X session? does it help if you stop gdm/xdm/kdm (or whatever is trying to use X) and just start X from a VT console with
Afraid not. I usually use gdm, but when I rebooted and started the new X for the first time it failed and dropped me into the console. Thereafter I spent 3-4 hours with startx and rebooting and scouring the net (with lynx!) to no avail. Cheers Jim -- J.J. Green, Dept.
