ldconfig reports that /usr/lib/libGLU.so is truncated and a gdb backtrace of 
kaffeine (xine) trying to play a .avi video returns as follows:

Error while reading shared library symbols:
"/usr/lib/libGLU.so.1": can't read symbols: File format not recognized.
