Just came across this bug, the problem I encounted was: linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-686 installed linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 installed
for some reason the trunk kernel was in position 0 in menu.conf, removing linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-686 fixed the problem.
