What do you want to automate in Debian. Do you have a special task in mind? I know you're only the messenger
but really I don't see the point in redoing stuff already done by upstream. Each time I have to deal with debian/copyright I end up hating it.
i can understand it. But...You are responsible whether the package meets the requirements for redistribution in Debian.
One requirement is following the licenses.
