Hello, we had a discussion on #debian-tech today with a bunch of people, and we ended up with (roughly) these results:
http://wiki.debian.org/MessyLibraries So I'm preparing an upload of tagcoll featuring the -dev package containing -fPIC code. If someone knows a good, clean, easy to maintain way of installing the lib as libtagcoll_pic.a without changing the name in Makefile.am, that would be the cherry on the top of the pie.
