Cox ( as well as most ISPs) only block specific ports as needed, and allow everything else. ( vs a corporate organization or ISP servers which block all, and allow whats needed ).
To the best of my knowledge cox only blocks Out: 25 In: 25,80 The cox filters only apply to Residential customers, business customers who are using their assigned IP addresses are not effected by any filters. This is no different than earthlink who has long blocked outbound 25 to anywhere except their own servers. This is a good move I wish all residential high speed providers would do. Cable Modems/DSL are known for their high abuse and since this block I have seen the number of viruses/etc trying to come into my network cut down considerably. -----Original Message----- From: John Tolmachoff (Lists) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2003 1:22 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Cox SMTP So, you are saying they are not blocking port 26 outbound, only port 25 in and out.
