It would be best to contact me at our support address (support [at] invariantsystems . com) to resolve this instead of taking up list bandwidth. My initial guess is that your log files are not named log1002.txt. Is it possible your log files are named sys1002? Imail has different logging mechanisms that you can choose.

It says
Attempting to open : c:\imail\spool\log1002.txt
Unable to open : c:\imail\spool\log1002.txt

This is where my logs are so it is looking in the right spot...what do you make of it..?

Richard,

There is not much configuration, but depending on your configuration for
imail you may have to use some of the command line options.

Optional Parameters:
-s <spool location>
-top <display only the top x ip addresses>
-days <number of previous days to process>
-logformatsys <if you have imail logging in the sys mode>

Example:
c:\ipHarvest -s c:\imail\spool -top 10 -days 2

*This will process the imail logs for the last two days and output the IP
addresses that had invalid user attempts against them.

Hope this helps,
Darrell

We wrote two very quick custom utilites for a customer that may be of use to you. All are provided "as is" free of charge. SpamSize - Process a directory containing files and gives the breakdown on sizes in roughly 50K incremements. It is just an interesting little tool to see where most of your spam sizes fall into.

ipHarvest - Processes the imail logs for and extracts the IP addresses that are responsible for "Invalid user attempts". Outputs to the console the list of IP's and number of hits as well as a text file containing just the IP addresses. This can be useful in filters or outright blocking of troublesome IP's.
