How can I confirm this? When I send myself the exploit I do not
receive the email - good- but in my virus logs all I see is 'error
in scannerx' and nothing in the declude log file.

That's because virus scanner detection of a virus takes priority over the vulnerability detection in Declude Virus. However, you should see a line at LOGLEVEL LOW in the Declude Virus log file mentioning that it detected the exploit.

It seems that someone has started spreading a test file in a .ZIP file -- that will only get detected by the actual virus scanner.
