yeah, the web site does not contain a page explaining in detail how you
can contribute.
You can read this page which summarize how to contribute :
http://www.apache.org/foundation/getinvolved.html. It applies to any
Apache project.
The easiest way is to check the bug list (JIRA) and try to fix some of
them. Becoming a committer is a process in which you have to demonstrate
some merit, but it's not too complex, and not too long either.
