Hi there, I don't know if I'm mailing the right person or not, but here goes...
I am wondering if there is already a facility to search the lists in /var/state/apt/lists and return meaningful results (ie, which packages have that string contained in their name, desc, etc.) If there is, wonderful. I haven't found it yet, but I'm far from an apt-guru. If there's not, that's okay too because I just wrote a Python script to accomplish that very thing. Would you be interested in seeing it? Do you think that would be useful to the debian world at large? thanks, Preston
