Package: apt Version: 0.3.19 If I compile my own debs from source, apt-get upgrade will frequently (but not always) replace my version with the stock version, even though I compiled from the same source package that produced the stock version, even though my compiled deb and the stock version have exactly the same version number.
So I have to set my verion to hold - and then I have to keep on checking on the website for new versions, because apt can't help me any more. I have no way to predict whether apt will try and do this with a home-compiled package. -- Bruce What would Edward Woodward do?
