Thanks Peter but this did not help because these are only sniffer programs that
display statical information regarding my network. Allow me to be more specific:
I have a control console that displays various values depending on what is
connected to the console. The console has a network adapter card and is
attached to a local network via RJ-45 connection. This console sends data lets
say (A, B, C, D) across the network.
What I want to do is write an app that captures that data from the network
via mac address then take that data and store it. I don't want to capture the
hex formatted data. The data should be readable data.
I looked and Indy and winsock but they require known ports and ip addresses.
Hopes this helps..

Take a look at WinPcap (driver) and the Delphi Snoop-components:

Greetz,

Onderwerp: [delphi-en] Reading packets in delphi
Does anyone know how to read packets using delphi. I have been tasked with
writing an application that communicate with a piece of hardware that send
packets with data via ethernet.
What I want to do is capture the packet, read the data, then store the
data.
Any help will be appreciated.
