Has anyone upgraded a project from Delphi 2005 using VCL.NET to Delphi 2006
and found you suddenly need a WideStrings unit that wasn't there? That
happened to me--or actually I've been UNABLE to upgrade the project.

Specifically, this is an old VCL application I was upgrading to .NET in
Delphi 2005 and it uses dbExpress to connect to SQL Server. In Delphi 2005,
the SQLConnection parameters and the SQLQuery.SQL property are TStrings.
But in Delphi 2006, they are WideStrings. WideStrings is for Win32 only (at
least in my installation), so it looks like dbExpress no longer works after
Delphi 2005--unless you stay with Win32.

If anyone has any light to shed on this at all, I'd love to hear it. I've
posted a message on a newsgroup, in a forum and submitted a QC report. I've
had ZERO responses so far--it be nice to know someone else has run into
this. Or that there actually is a WideStrings unit for .NET available
somewhere.

Thanks,
