However, you can "filter' the results if you wish, but, I suggest you do that, if possible, with the query itself. Of course, there are cases where you wish to retrieve a set of rows from a server in one round trip, and then filter those results in various ways. a 3 tier application is one such case where this is frequently more efficient.
