Seriously, though, if you feel the need for some nice desktop effects (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lcv_l7Y73o, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxMKSW7ZhSM), or for experimenting with a new OS, while keeping the ability to write apps for WinXP - I would definitely go for Linux+Lazarus.
