Good Morning! Once upon a time, someone at Borland (Inprise?) had the GREAT idea the Interbase was not worth keeping. So, Borland released all the source code as open source. Then, Someone (else?) at Borland decided to keep developing Interbase and so make IB 7 a propritary product.
But! the cat (so to speak) was out of the bag. Some really dedicated developers took the newly released code and made Firebird. Lucky for us! Thanks, FB team! As for the differences between IB and FB, perhaps someone else can answer. There is no OS Interbase that I am aware of.
