I have used the tmxprotector component. Easy to use after studying the demo
applications, and suits my demands. Exploring the source gave some view on what
to do.
thanks for your suggestion.

Subject: [delphi-en] protect delphi program by activation key
I would like to add a small and simple protection for my program. It's not a
program to be likely hacked within the future, but I would like to add some
protection and 'activation' . This activation will be done by entering a unique
key provided by me.
I have done this in the past by retrieving the hard disk serial (and mybe some
other serial numbers) and use this number to generate a validation code. This
would trigger to create a register key that could be used to validate the
program at startup.
However, this was, some time ago on windows 2000 machines.
now things might have changed with windows vista / 7
Where within the windows 7 / vista register is one allowed to create a
validation key.
Maybe someone could direct me to some open source example to generate a
validation key? I've done some googling, but only finds some commerial products
without source. Also a snipled of code shoul be welcome as a start.
regards
