You're going to have to do the following things:

1.  Open the Table where the data is stored.
2.  Filter the table to find the records you want to summarize.
3.  Go through the records and add the amounts and quantities to variables used 
to hold the data.
4.  After you have gone through the table, you will need to display the summed 
totals on your form.

If you are doing a report on this, you will need to take advantage of the 
report systems calculation routine.

I am hesitant to go into more detail because the possibilities are endless.  
Tell us more about what your system you are designing.

1. Where do you want to show your summaries?
2. What database are you using?
3. When do you want to show the summaries? After entering data?, when a user 
clicks on a date or an Item?
