So I got out FileMon.exe to see what was happening - you are right,
the shellexec app IS being launched.
It just doesn't stay around very long.
What I see is:
apache query info about the CGI app
the CGI app read it's config file
the CGI app query info about the shellexec app.
the Shellexec app read it's config file
csrss.exe query info about the shellexecapp
the shellexec app query info about it's self and some dlls
svchost.exe query info about the shellexec app config file
svchost.exe query info about the shellexec app
and then nothing more from the shellexec app
When I launch the shellexec app manually, svchost.exe still does it's
querys but csrss.ese does not!
The svchost that does the queries is the one that runs a whole plethora
of windows services.
Can you shed any light on this?
