Dear List members,
Just like Godzilla and the Terminator, I'm back once again! I
wasn't able to contact anyone except Glen until just this week since losing
everything to the fireman's hose last year. And that was only via the grace
of a friend who let me send just a few e-mails out to various people I had
to get in touch with.
I didn't actually have any fire in my place, but two apartments down
the rest of the building went missing that night. And the water damage was
tremendous. I lost nearly everything and naturally I was without insurance
for the first time in my life! <g> So it has taken awhile, but I'm finally
up and running again with a new machine and I'm installing the Delphi 2009
upgrade as I write this. Best advice I can give after experiencing this is
that you should never trust CD-RW's. I lost all the data backups I has so
painstakingly made over the last few years. But at the same time, old 3+1/2
inch mag disks survived the disaster! Books I'd been carrying around since
back in my college days were destroyed, and the one and only memento I had
saved...my ticket from the 1973 Super Bowl between Washington and Miami at
the L.A. Coliseum...was also lost! Now my grandson will never believe me
when I tell him the strange story of how I came to be in possession of 2
tickets to the game or how much they didn't cost me! <g>
Well I am hopeful that now I'm back to stir things up a bit all of
you out there will begin posting a bit more like back when Delphi was still
in its infancy. In any case, I'm glad to be back so let me know what I
missed over these last 8 months when you get the chance!
