We've had this one recently.
The following is from the BDE Config Help:
LOCAL
SHARE
The ability to share access to local data between an
active BDE application and an active non-BDE application. Set to TRUE if
you need to work with the same files through both a BDE and a non-BDE
application at the same time. (It is not necessary to set LOCAL SHARE to
TRUE if you do not need to have both applications open at the same time.)
Default: FALSE.
As long as those tables are not going to be concurrently
accessed by BDE and non-BDE applications then set Local Share to False (on
System tab). Try that change alone for a start-off - it worked for
us.
< I haven't seen it yet and it is certainly not been seen on other
machines. >
The other machines will have LOCAL SHARE =
FALSE. This only showed up for us with one client - the rest run fine with a D1
app with 30+ Paradox tables and multi-users.

ex-developers machine that may or may not have newer version of the BDE
on it.
Users are getting 'Lock file too big" problem. I haven't seen it yet
and it is certainly not been seen on other machines. The app is single
user, installed on a single workstation.
Any ideas on where to look?
The 32 bit replacement app is still months away so I am hoping its
just a setting or BDE conflict issue...
