I use a component called Colormemo for that.

G'Day,
I am looking for a component that can do some simple syntax highlighting. It
would be XML and I would like to be able to specify colours for tags and
preferable for specific tags. Eg Field a colour, Name a colour etc. Specific
tag colouring is not all that important.....
Eg.
