It's just a case of field alignment - by default delphi aligns to 32 bit
boundaries. I think Turbo Pascal was 16 bits.
You could also try a packed record in Delphi, and add in filler fields of
the right size (eg Byte).

I seem to remember discussions regarding the difference in Pascal record
structures and Delphi. I am off to visit someone with a problem writing a
Delphi front-end to an old Pascal program that uses a file of records.
