I never discuss the good points of things, only their drawbacks. :-)
That's because I don't need to - the good points are usually shouted
from the rooftops.

No, never used postgreSQL, but 8 or 9 months ago when I took a look at
it it was missing some major SQL functionality that made it a
non-starter (don't ask me what though - I can't remember and haven't
looked at it since.  Outer joins, or something like that?).  Anyway,
isn't postgreSQL *nix only?  One application of our database is a point
of sale system, so the database needs to run on Windows - currently we
don't want to have to buy and maintain an extra machine in each of a
couple of hundred stores just to keep the store's local database on.
