This might not be right, but as far as I know it is...

User Hives
----------
NT/Windows 2000/XP: %USERPROFILE%\ntuser.dat
Windows 9x: %SYSTEMROOT%\user.dat

Non-user Hives
--------------
NT/Windows 2000/XP: SYSTEMROOT%\System32\Config (directory of hives)
Windows 9x: %SYSTEMROOT%\system.dat

-Andreas
P.S. Why would you want file-level access to the hives?
P.P.S. The file-level protection of the hives is quite high under some
versions of Windows.

Subject: [DUG]: Quicky - the registry

Good morning all.
Have looked at Delphi and Windows help and cannot find the filenames of
registry for Win98 and/or WinXP.
Can anyone tell me? and also whatDIR WinXP hides its registry?
Tks,
Alistair
