How do you read sensors? What interface? Serial port? How do you control moters? How much are the cost for these hardware?

With the aid of a computer model (seasons, time of day, heat stored etc.) and a few sensors it will be able to respond to environmental conditions to control the ammount of heat captured or released. It will moitor the state of most switches in the house and may overide some of them. Control air circulation fans. Open and close roof windows. Monitor temperature sensors. Operate as timer on things like under floor heating and towel rails. The software is a one off for my house but I am heppy to pass on the ideas to anyone who is interested.
