"Evidence" ? Of what? All you can get from asking this sort of question is "samples".
The performance of an RDBMS server is contingent on a huge number of factors. Not least of course is the specification of the hardware and, to an extent, the operating system. Server load is another obvious factor. You may obtain a number of anecdotal samples representing everything from unrealistic throughput benchmarks conducted with zero server load (other than the benchmarking process) through to highly realistic but far less impressive throughput achieved under realistic loads. And even then, the throughput will vary according to the nature of the database (OLTP systems will generally yield lower TPS than "read-only" OLAP data stores given the nature of the "transactions" involved). If you were to explain what the "evidence" you are gathering is intended to establish (or disprove) people may be able to better provide the samples that will help "build your case". :) > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:delphi- > [email protected]] On Behalf Of Neven MacEwan > Sent: Tuesday, 9 March 2010 9:04 a.m. > To: NZ Borland Developers Group - Delphi List > Subject: Re: [DUG] Skite time > > Edward > > I was just after anecdotal evidence, yes am aware of the differences so > if > anyone wishes to they may incude row size and index count. > > Neven > > > Questions not quite correct... > > > > You can have billions small records in one table and everything will > be > > working fine. > > Opposite situation - table with row with exceeds page size and has a > lot > > of indexes.... > > > > Edward Koryagin > > > > > > --- On Tue, 9/3/10, Neven MacEwan <[email protected]> wrote: > > > >> From: Neven MacEwan <[email protected]> > >> Subject: [DUG] Skite time > >> To: "NZ Borland Developers Group - Delphi List" > <[email protected]> > >> Received: Tuesday, 9 March, 2010, 7:59 AM > >> Hi All > >> > >> I'm after some anecdotal numbers, > >> > >> 1.
