Ø Delphi 7 doesn't require activation. As I said, that was my recollection, but when I tried to use it most recently I found that my recollection was wrong (or, as I said, that something else had changed in the meantime all I know is, I did have to register it, either at the outset or eventually).
Ø Every version since gives you 30 days use before requiring activation. Is there some trick to getting the grace period? Because this doesnt fit my experience.
