Just a quick follow up to my own message ... without going into all the 
details why, my problem would also be solved if I could simply turn off the 
border on the radio groups. It's interesting that I've seen a few things on 
this web related to this idea while googling for answers, but I myself have 
never heard of TRadioGroup having properties like HasBorder ...
