Yes, I will add HEAD to collection as well.
For testing, you can use 'RestClient' gem (just type 'restclient' on console)
Then: 

RestClient.options('http://localhost:3001/api/instances').headers

Will print HTTP headers. Use '.head' for HEAD ;-)
