Lastly, general comment - we should not be removing all the '$' and '#' from
the code snippets.  If anything, we may need to just make a note of why they
are there.  This is a convention for *nix documentation where you are
explaining a command run at the terminal prompt.  '$' represents your
regular user, and '#' denotes root.
