Definitely the right move.

In fact, I would strengthen the words to "expect the api to change". It's
always better to over deliver (no api changes) than to over promise (we
tried, but we had to change it). We don't want to limit our explorations
just yet, esp with a lot of newcomers recently.

What this release really does is send a message to all parties involved
that this initiative is sincere, that it has wheels and it's worth paying
attention to.

Gerhard and Mark, I want to take this opportunity to say that I'm really
impressed by your leadership and commitment. We really are honored to be a
part of this project.
