Your screenshot shows "No External Input" is ticked, which should cause
your local settings file to register
 <startmidiin>0</startmidiin>
that file is saved when you quit denemo (I think) so if when you quit
and restart it doesn't set the new value it looks like there is a bug.
But at least you figured out how to fix it :)
