You *should* be able to perform a --force. Each DH release contains a
full set of files that it relies upon, so anything in a later release
should overwrite the previous releases files.
After installing the newer version, you may want to backup your
denyhosts.cfg file and then copy denyhosts.cfg-dist to denyhosts.cfg and
manually reapply your current settings since 2.x contains a ton of
features not present in 1.0.

I've downloaded the DenyHosts 2.2 rpm for Python 2.3 from sourceforge
and when I 'rpm -i DenyHosts-2.2*' I get a bunch of errors complaining
about file conflicts. Is it safe to just --force the install or should I
go about it a different way?
I also tried downloading version 2.1 from the Fedora Extras site but had
the same results.
